1 Well then, should we keep on [sinning]

/so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace?

 

1 Well then 그렇다면, should we 우린 keep on 계속 반복해야 하느냐 sinning 죄짓기를

/so that 그래서 God 하나님께서 can show 보여주실 수 있도록 us 우리에게

more and more of  더욱더 많은 것을 his wonderful grace 그분의 경이로운 은혜를?

 

* keep on 타동사구;  to do something again and again
Keep 나 keep on 이나 둘 다 계속하다는 뜻이지만 keep에 on 이 붙으면 자꾸자꾸 끊질기게  하다

(전치사 on은 문맥에 따라 동사에 의미를 추가하면 부사, 뒤에 온 명사면 전치사로 됨)

Someone who keeps on doing something is usually a little more stubborn

than someone who just keeps doing something.

2 Of course not! 

Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

Since 때문에 we 우린 have died 죽었었던 to sin 죄에 대하여, 

how 어떻게 can we 우리가 continue 계속할 수 있느냐 to live 사는 것을 in it 죄 안에서?

* continue 는 목적으로 부정사나 동명사 둘 다 가능하다

* 죄를 지면 율법이 사형선고를 하기에 살았어도 죽은 몸이고 십자가에서 처벌로 죽으면 죄로 인해 죽은 것이요

죄에 대하여 죽은 것이라 더 이상 죄를 질 맘이 없어야 예수님의 십자가를 믿는 죄인의 정상적인 사고방식이다

 

3 Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus /in baptism, 

we joined him /in his death?

 

3 Or 그게 아니면 have you 너희는  forgotten 잊어버렸느냐 that절 내용을 즉 when 그때 we 우리가

were joined 연합되었을 때 with Christ Jesus 예수 그리스도와 함께 in baptism 세례에서, 

we 우리가 joined 연합되었다는 것을 him 그분과 in his death 그분의 죽음에서?

that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death

* 세례를 받는 건 예수님의 죽음과 연합된 걸 상징하는 바 죄에 대하여 죽은 몸인 것을 잊으면 참 세례가 아니다

 

4 For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. 

And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, 

now we also may live new lives.

 

4 For 왜냐면 we 우린 died 죽었고 and were buried 묻혔다 with Christ 그리스도와 함께 by baptism 세례에 의해. 

And just as 똑같이 Christ 그리스도께서 was raised 올리워/살려지셨다 from the dead 죽은 자로부터

by the glorious power 영광스러운 권능으로 of the Father 아버지의, 

now 이제 we 우린 also 또한 may live 살 수 있다 new lives 새 삶을.

  동사 live 의 현제/단수형은 lives, 명사 life의 복수형은 lives로 같은 형태이나 쓰이는 위치는 서로 다름
* 죄로 인하여 죽은 사람을 죄를 범하게 하려고 하나님께서 다시 살리다는 건 천만부당한 어불성설이다
 

5 Since we have been united /with him /in his death, we will also be raised /to life /as he was.

 

5 Since 때문에 we 우리가 have been united 연합된 with him 그분과 함께 in his death 그분의 죽음에서, 

we 우리도 will also 역시 be raised 올려질/살려질 것이다 to life 삶으로 as he 그분께서 was 올려지신 것처럼.

 

* /as he was (raised). ; be+pp 수동태 구조에서 과거분사가 생략됨
* 타동사 raise ;  (raise, raised, raised) 목적필요/수동태 가능;  God raised Jesus. 하나님께서 예수님을 살리셨다    
* 비교 ; 자동사 rise (rises, rose, risen) 스스로 하는 동작/수동태 불가 ; Jesus has risen. 예수님께서 사셨다

somebody/something can rise on its own, whereas an outside force is needed to raise sb/sth.

* 죗값을 갚는 죽음은 공포스럽지만 새롭게 태어나는 과정으로 보면 사망저주가 부활축복이 되니

C. S. Lewis는 죽음이 더럽고 무섭지만 동시에 거룩하고 희망적인 것이라고 역설적으로 설명한다

 

6 We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ 

so that sin might lose its power in our lives. 

We are no longer slaves to sin.

 

6 We 우린 know 안다 that절 내용을 즉 our old sinful selves 우리의 옛 죄성이 were crucified 처형당했다는 것

with Christ 그리스도와 함께

so that 그래서 sin 죄가 might lose 상실하도록 its power 그것의 힘을 in our lives 우리의 삶 안에서. 

We 우린 are 아니다 no longer 더 이상 slaves 노예가 to sin 죄에게.

 

* “So that” means “in order to” which answers the question “Why?” 

* 부사구 No longer/more = any longer/more

  No longer는 자체에 부정 의미가 있기에 동사를 부정하지 않으나

   any longer는 동사가 부정된 문장에만 쓰이는 차이가 있음 We are not slaves to sin any longer.

 

7 For when we died with Christ we were set free /from the power of sin.

 

7 For 왜냐면 when 그때 we 우리가 died 죽었을 때 with Christ 그리스도와 함께

we 우린 were set free 자유롭게 놓여났다 from the power of sin 죄의 힘/강력으로부터.

 

* 타동사구 Set free : to cause to be free; release ; liberate

* 3 형식 능동문 S set us free /from the power of sin

  set 을 5 형식 동사로 보면 free는 목보인 형용사가 됨 God set us free /from the power of sin.

 

8 And since we died /with Christ, we know () we will also live /with him.

 

8 And since 때문에 we 우리가 died 죽었기 with Christ 그리스도와 함께,

we 우린 know 안다 (that)절 내용을 즉 we 우리도 will also 역시 live 살 것이라는 것 with him 그분과 함께.

 

9 We are sure of this /because Christ was raised /from the dead, and he will never die again. 

Death no longer has any power over him.

 

9 We 우린 are sure 확신한다 of this 이것에 대해

because 왜냐면 Christ 그리스도께서 was raised 살려지셨기에 from the dead 죽은 자 들로부터,

and 그리고 he 그분은 will never 결코 die 죽지 않으실 것이다 again 다시금. 

Death 사망은 no longer 더 이상 has 없다 any power 어떤 능력도 over him 그분보다 우월한.

 

* be sure of (doing) something ; to be certain to get something or be certain that something will happen

* 관사+형용사=복합명사 the dead = the people who are dead 죽은 자들

 

10 When he died, he died /once /to break the power of sin. 

But now that he lives , he lives for the glory of God.

 

10 When 그때 he 그분께서 died 죽으셨을 때, he 그분은 died 죽으셨다 once 단 한번 to break 깨기 위해

the power of sin 죄의 권력을. 

But now that 때문에 he 그분께서 lives 사시기, he 그분은 lives 사신다 for the glory of God 하나님의 영광을 위해.

 

* now that ; As a consequence of the fact that; since.

* 부역 부정사구 /to defeat sin

* 성자 하나님께서도 성부 하나님의 영광을 위해 사시는데 피조물인 인간이 자기 영광을 위해 사는 건 대역죄다

 

11 So you also should consider yourselves [to be dead to the power of sin 

and alive to God through Christ Jesus].

 

11 So 그래서 you 너희도 also 역시 should consider 생각해야 한다 yourselves 네 자신이 to be dead 죽은 상태로

to the power of sin 죄의 능력에 대하여

and alive 살아 있는 상태로 to God 하나님께 through Christ Jesus 예수 그리스도를 통하여.

 

* 목보인 형역 부정사구 to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

* 형용사 수식인 부역 전구  to the power of sin,  to God through Christ Jesus.

* 죄를 너무 사랑해서 죄의 노예된 죄인이 죄에 대하여 죽을 수 없지만 오직 성령 하나님께서만 하실 수 있다

 

12 Do not let sin control the way () you live; do not give in to sinful desires.

 

12 Do not let 허락 마라 sin 죄가 control 통제하게 the way 그 방식을 (that) you 네가 live 사는/네 삶의 방식을;

do not give in 항복하지 마라 to sinful desires 죄질의 욕망에게.

* GIVE IN (phrasal verb): stop competing or arguing and accept defeat;

* 힘 없어서 죄/사망의 노예된 죄인이 죄를 통제할 수 없으니 죄보다 더 강력하신 하나님을 의지해야 가능하다

 

13 Do not let any part of your body [become an instrument of evil to serve sin]. 

Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. 

So use your whole body /as an instrument [to do what is right for the glory of God].

 

13 Do not let 허락 마라 any part 어떤 부분이라도 of your body 너희 몸의 become 되도록

an instrument 기구/도구가 of evil 악의 to serve sin 죄를 섬기기 위한. 

Instead 대신에, give 주어라 yourselves 네 자신을 completely 완전하게 to God 하나님께,

for 왜냐면 you 너희는 were dead 죽었었다가, but now 이젠 you 너희가 have 가졌기에 new life 새 삶을. 

So 그래서 use 사용하라 your whole body 너희의 전체 몸을 /as an instrument 도구로써 

/to do 하기 위한 what 그것을 is right 올바른 for the glory of God 하나님의 영광을 위해.

 

* 목보인 원형 부정사구 (to) become an instrument of evil to serve sin

* 수식관계 an instrument of evil 악의 도구, an instrument /to serve sin 죄를 섬기기 위한 도구.

* 불자 보어인 명사구 an instrument of evil to serve sin

14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. 

Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.

 

14 Sin 죄는 is 아니다 no longer 더 이상 your master 너의 주인이,

for 왜냐면 you 너희는 no longer 더이상 live 살지 않는다 under the requirements 요구 아래 of the law 율법의. 

Instead 대신에, you 너희는 live 산다 under the freedom 자유 아래서 of God’s grace 하나님의 은혜의.

                   

* 부사구 no longer ; in the past but not now, not any more

형용사가 부정된 부정문 구조이나 한글엔 없는 표현이므로 의역상 동사 부정으로 함

* 절대적인 완전순종을 요구하는 율법을 일단 깨면 죄인되고 죄인은 율법의 정의구현상 처벌이 요구되기에

예수님께서 율법을 완전히 지키신 의인으로서 죄인들 대신 죽으시고 부활하신 걸 믿는 신자에게는 더 이상

율법의 요구가  없는 건 율법에 대하여 죽고 율법의 저주와 사망에서 생명의 성령법으로 옮겨 간 때문이다 

 

15 Well then, since God’s grace has set us free /from the law, 

does that mean () we can go on sinning? Of course not!

 

15 Well then 그렇다면, since 때문에 God’s grace 하나님의 은혜가 has set 놓아주었기 us 우리를 free 자유롭게

from the law 율법으로부터, 

does that 그것이 mean 의미하느냐 (that) 절 내용을 즉 we 우리가 can go on 계속할 수 있다는 걸 sinning 죄짓기를?

Of course not 물론 아니다!

 

* 명사절 that 절/목적절 (that) we can go on sinning ;

* set free를 타동사 구로 보면 3 형식          
* go on 타동사구 = keep on

* 죗값을 갚으시려고 예수님께서 십자가 고난을 당하셨는데 또 죄를 진다는 건 십자가 모욕죄가 된다

16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? 

You can be a slave to sin, which leads /to death, 

or you can choose [to obey God], which leads /to righteous living.

 

16 Don’t you 너희는 realize 깨닫지 못하느냐 that절 내용을 즉 you 너희가 become 된다는 걸 the slave 노예가

of whatever 무엇이든지 you 너희가 choose 선택하는 것의 to obey 순종하기를? 

You 너희는 can be 될 수 있다 a slave 노예가 to sin 죄짓는, which 그건 leads 인도하는 to death 사망으로, 

or you 너희는 can choose 선택할 수 있다 to obey 순종하기를 God 하나님을,

which 그건 leads 인도하는 to righteous living 의로운 삶으로.

 

* 전목인 의문사절 whatever you choose (목) /to obey ;
   의문사 whatever=접속사=choose의 목적; you choose [whatever] /to obey
* 부역 부정사구 to obey

* 율법이 선포되기도 전에 죄가 있었던 건 선한 양심을 통하여 말씀하시는 하나님을 순종하지 않는 때문이고

율법이 사람들의 불순종을 확실히 드러내어 저주와 사망을 불러왔지만 믿음의 순종은 의로운 삶을 불러온다

 

17 Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, 

but now you wholeheartedly obey [this teaching () we have given you].

 

17 Thank 감사하라 God 하나님께! Once 한 때 you 너희는 were slaves 노예였다 of sin 죄악의, 

but 그러나 now 이제 you 너희는 wholeheartedly 전심으로 obey 순종한다 this teaching 이 가르침에 (that) we 우리가

have given 주었던 you 너희에게.

 

* 목적인 명사구 this teaching (that) we have given you (직목),

*  목적격 관대절 that we have given you (직목), (관계사=선행사=직목)
* 바울은 율법을 가르친 것이 아니고 성자 하나님이신 예수님의 말씀을 순종하라고 가르쳤는데

신약에는 구약율법 6백여 조항보다 더 많은 사랑법 1,050 조항들이 있으나 무거운 것은 아니고

성령님께서 도우실 것이므로 순종하면 생명길로 이끄나 구약율법과 비교하면 천지차이가 나며

법적처벌 대 원수사랑, 살인 대 증오, 십일조 대 전 인생, 토요안식 대 매일안식, 우상 대 탐심 등

신약신자가 순종해야 하는 성령법은 구약율법을 훨씬 능가하는 사랑법이라 율법의 완성이 되나

구약율법 지킴 운운하면 대딩이 코흘리개 초딩학문 논하는 것 같은 어리석은 갈라디아인이 된다

18 Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living.

 

18 Now 이제 you 너희는 are free 자유롭다 from your slavery 노예일로부터 to sin 죄악에 대한,

and 그리고 you 너희는 have become 되었다 slaves 노예가 to righteous living 의로운 삶에게.

 

* now ; used to introduce an important idea or to show a change in subject. 새로운 의견을 제시할 때 쓰임

* 죄의 노예신분에서 의의 노예신분으로 노예신분은 같지만 주인이 다르므로 노예신분도 천지차이가 난다

19 Because of the weakness of your human nature, 

I am using [the illustration of slavery] /to help you understand all this. 

Previously, you let yourselves [be slaves to impurity and lawlessness], which led ever deeper into sin. 

Now you must give yourselves /to be slaves to righteous living /so that you will become holy.

 

19 Because of 때문에 the weakness 연약함 of your human nature 너희 인간 본질상의,

 I 나는 am using 사용한다 the illustration 묘사를 of slavery 노예일에 대한

to help 돕기 위해 you 너희가 understand 이해하게 all this 이 모든 것을. 

Previously 일전에, you 너희는 let 허락했다 yourselves 네 자신이 be slaves 노예되기를 to impurity 불결함과

and lawlessness 불법에게, which 그건 led 인도한 ever deeper 더 깊게 into sin 죄 속으로. 

Now 이제 you 너희는 must give 주어야 한다 yourselves 네 자신을 to be slaves 노예가 되도록

to righteous living 의로운 삶의 /so that 그래서 you 너희가 will become 되도록 holy 거룩하게.

20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the obligation to do right.

 

20 When 그때 you 너희가 were slaves 노예였을 때 to sin 죄에게,

you 너희는 were free 자유로왔었다 from the obligation 책임으로부터 to do right 올바로 할.

* 죄짓기를 작정한 죄인이 율법에서 금한 일을 순종하지 않은 것이 뻔하니 자유롭게 죄를 짓는다

 

21 And what was the result? 

You are now ashamed of the things () you used to do, things //that end in eternal doom.

 

21 And 그래서 what 무엇이 was the result 그 결과였느냐? 

You 너희는 are now 이제 ashamed 수치스러워한다 of the things 일들에 관해 (that) 그건 you 너희가

used to do 습관적으로 했던 것, things 일들 that 그건 end 끝장나는 in eternal doom 영원한 저주에서.

  

* and ; used to describe an action that occurs after and is caused by another action 결과를 설명함

22 But now you are free /from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. 

Now you do [those things //that lead /to holiness and result /in eternal life].

 

22 But 그러나 now 이제 you 너희는 are free 자유롭다 from the power 권력으로부터 of sin 죄악의

and have become 되었다 slaves of God 하나님의 종/하인으로. 

Now 이제 you 너희는 do 한다 those things 그런 일들을 that 그건 lead 인도하고 to holiness 거룩함으로

and result 결과되는/끝나는 in eternal life 영생에서.

 

*목적인 명사구 [those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life] 명사+형절=명사구

하나님의 하인으로 인생을 바치면 의롭고 깨끗하여 자책할 일 없으니 영원히 살아도 영원히 즐겁고 행복하다

 

23 For the wages of sin is death, 

but the free gift of God is eternal life /through Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

23 For 왜냐면 the wages 보수는 of sin 죄악의 is death 사망이지만, 

but 그러나 the free gift 공짜 선물은 of God 하나님의 is eternal life 영생이다

through Christ Jesus our Lord 예수 그리스도 우리 주님을 통한.

              

* 주어인 명사구 the wages /of sin, the free gift /of God

* 사망은 물리적인 것도 있지만 하나님과 분리된 영적인 사망이 더 심각한 것은

선하신 하나님과 분리되면 남을 온갖 죄악의 삶의 부활로 영생이 되는 때문이다
