1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, 

we have peace with God /because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

 

1 Therefore 그런즉,

since 연고로 we 우리가 have been made 만들어진 right 옳게 in God’s sight 하나님 앞에서 by faith 믿음으로, 

we 우린 have 가졌다 peace 평화를/평화한다 with God 하나님과

/because of 때문에 what 그 일 Jesus Christ our Lord 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 has done 하신 for us 우리를 위해.

2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place /of undeserved privilege //where we now stand, 

and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.

 

2 Because of our faith 우리의 믿음 때문에, Christ 그리스도께서 has brought 데려오셨다 us 우리를

into this place  이 자리로 of undeserved privilege 받을 자격 없는 특권의 where 그곳 we 우리가 now 지금

stand 서 있는, and we 우린 confidently 확실하고 and joyfully 기쁘게 look forward 고대한다

to sharing 나누기에 대하여 God’s glory 하나님의 영광을.

3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, 

for we know that they help us develop endurance.

4 And endurance  develops strength  of character, 

and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.

 

4 And endurance 인내심은 develops 발달시킨다 strength 강인함을 of character 성격의, 

and character 성격은 strengthens 보강한다 our confident hope 우리의 자신 있는 희망을 of salvation 구원의.

 

* endurance: 1. the ability to keep doing something difficult, unpleasant, or painful for a long time: 인내

                   2. the ability to continue doing something for a long time. 지속력

* 복음을 받고도 구원에 대한 자신/확신이나 희망이 없다면 인내심 부재의 허약한 성격 때문인 것이 확실하다                               

 

5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know [how dearly God loves us], 

because he has given us the Holy Spirit /to fill our hearts with his love.

 

5 And 그리고 this hope 이런 희망은 will not lead 인도하지 않는다 to disappointment 실망으로.

For 왜냐면 we 우린 know 알기에 how 얼마나 dearly 귀하게 God 하나님께서 loves 사랑하시는지를 us 우리를,

6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, 

though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.

8 But God showed his great love for us /by sending Christ to die for us /while we were still sinners.

by sending 보내 주심으로 Christ 그리스도를 to die 죽으시도록 for us 우리를 위해

9 And since we have been made [right in God’s sight] /by the blood of Christ, 

he will certainly save us /from God’s condemnation.

by the blood of Christ 그리스도의 피로, 

he 그분께서 will certainly 확실히 save 구원하실 것이다 us 우리를 from God’s condemnation 하나님의 저주로부터.

* 인간의 의인기준과는 달리 하나님께서는 죗값을 대신 치른 그리스도의 피를 의인의 기준으로 삼으시고

무속인은 부적으로 재앙을 피하려 하나 하나님은 피 묻은 양가죽을 덮어쓴 죄인을 저주로부터 살리신다 

 

10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son /while we were still his enemies, 

we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

 

10 For 왜냐면 since 때문에 our friendship 우리의 친밀한 관계가 with God 하나님과의 was restored 복구되었기에

by the death 죽음으로 of his Son 그분의 아들의

while 불구하고 we 우리가 were still 여전히 his enemies 그분의 원수임에도, 

we 우린 will certainly 확실히 be saved 구원될 것이다 through the life 삶을 통해서 of his Son 그분의 아들의.

               His life will certainly save us through the life of his Son

 * 하나님께서 자신과 일체인 아들을 희생하여 단절된 관계를 복구하신 것은 자신을 희생하는 것과 동일한 것이고

죄인을 가까이하실 수 없는 거룩하신 속성도 양보하시고 원수 죄인을 자비로 품으신 바 죄인이 구원되는 것이다  

11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God 

because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.

 

11 So 그래서 now 이제는 we 우리가 can rejoice 기뻐할 수 있다

in our 우리의 wonderful 멋진 new 새로운 relationship 관계에서 with God 하나님과의

because 왜냐면 our Lord Jesus Christ 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 has made 만드셨기에 us 우리를

friends of God 하나님의 친구로.

우린 인간 왕에게조차 함부로 말하지 못하는데 감히 하나님을 우리의 친구로 격하한다니
유대인들이 신성모독도 유분수지 할게 너무나도 뻔하니 바울이 미쳤든지 참말을 하든지

둘 중의 하나이나 그의 명문대학 학력으로 인해 당대의 사람들이 그를 미쳤다고 평하였다

한 인간으로 보았기에 그리스도를 십자가에 처형했는데 하나님의 아들이라니...
그리고 남들이 못 본 삼층천까지 보았으니 바울이 안 미치면 이상하다 하리라
좋은 의미로 미치면 그 얼마나 좋은 건가 He was crazy about the Son of God.

 

바울이 결코 미친 게 아니고 하나님을 친구처럼 사랑할 수 있는 대상이 아니라 고집하는

완고한 종교적인  사람이 사실 미친 거(비정상)나 인간치고 비정상 아닌 사람 누구일까?

과연 나는 하나님을 참 친구처럼 사랑할 마음이 있는가? 체면도 꿈도 목숨도 버리기까지?

우리말 친구와는 달리 영어 friend라는 말은 사랑에 가까운 말에서 나왔다 한다
Greek philos "friend" and phile "I love."(antonym ; phobia.) 필로스는 친구, 필레오φιλεω는 사랑하다는 의미

그러므로 그리스도께서 베드로에게 네가 날 사랑하느냐 할 때
베드로 역시 감히 하나님을 친구처럼 사랑한다고 말했다 본다

 

12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. 

Adam’s sin brought death, 

so death spread /to everyone, for everyone sinned.

 

12 When 그때 Adam 아담이 sinned 죄를 범하였을 때,

sin 죄가 entered 들어왔다 the world 이 세상에. 

Adam’s sin 아담의 죄가 brought 가져왔다 death 사망을, 

so 그래서 death 사망이 spread 퍼졌다 to everyone 모든 이에게,

for 왜냐면 everyone 모든 이가 sinned 범죄 하였기에.

 

* enter가 타동사로 쓰이면 들어가는 대상이 목적으로 쓰이나

13 Yes, people sinned /even before the law was given. 

But it was not counted /as sin /because there was not yet any law to break.

 

13 Yes 맞다, people 사람들이 sinned 범죄 했다

even before 전에도 조차 the law 율법이 was given 주어지기 전. 

But 그러나 it 그것은 was not counted 셈에 처지지 않았다 as sin 죄로써

because 왜냐면 there was not 존재하지 않았기에 yet 아직 any law 어떤 율법도 to break 깰/범할.

14 Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—

even those //who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. 

Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.

—from the time of Adam 아담의 시대에서 to the time of Moses 모세의 시대까지—

even those 그들 조차 who 그들 did not disobey 불순종하지 않은 an explicit commandment 명백한 명령을 of God 하나님의,

as Adam 아담이 did 불순종했었던 것처럼. 

Now 그런즉 Adam 아담은 is a symbol 한 상징이다, a representation 대변자 of Christ 그리스도의,

15 But there is a great difference /between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. 

For [the sin of this one man], Adam, brought death /to many. 

But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness /to many /through this other man, Jesus Christ.

 

15 But 그러나 there is 존재한다 a great difference 큰 차이가 between 사이에 Adam’s sin 아담의 죄와

and God’s gracious gift 하나님의 은혜로운 선물. 

For 왜냐면 the sin 그 죄는 of this one man 이 한 사람, Adam 아담의, brought 가져왔기 때문이다 death 사망을

to many 많은 이들에게. 

But even greater 더 큰 is 상태이다 God’s wonderful grace 하나님의 경이로우신 은혜와

and his gift 그분의 선물은 of forgiveness 용서의 to many 많은 이들을 향하신

through this other man 이러한 다른 한 사람을 통하여, Jesus Christ 예수 그리스도이신.

16 And [the result of God’s gracious gift] is very different from the result of that one man’s sin.

 For Adam’s sin led /to condemnation, 

but God’s free gift leads /to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins.

 

16 And the result 결과는 of God’s gracious gift 하나님의 은혜로운 선물의 is 이다 very different 매우 다른 상태

from the result 결과와는 of that one man’s sin 그 한 사람의 범죄의. 

For 왜냐면 Adam’s sin 아담의 죄는 led 인도했기 때문에 to condemnation 저주로, 

but 그러나 God’s free gift 하나님의 공짜 선물은 leads 인도한다 to our being made 우리가 만들어지는 데로 right 올바로

with God 하나님께, 

even though 비록 we 우리가 are guilty 유죄 상태이더라도 of many sins 많은 죄악에 관련된.

17 For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. 

But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, 

for [all //who receive it] will live /in triumph /over sin and death /through this one man, Jesus Christ.

 

17 For 왜냐면 the sin 그 죄는 of this one man 이 한 사람의, Adam 아담인,

caused 유발했기 때문이다 death 사망이 to rule over 지배하기를 many 많은 이를. 

But 그러나 even greater 더 위대하다 is [God’s 하나님의 wonderful 경이로운 grace 은혜와

and his 그분의 gift 선물은 of righteousness 의의], 

for 왜냐면 [all 모든 이들이 who 그들 receive 받는 it 그것을] will live 살 것이기 때문이다 in triumph 승리 안에서

over sin 죄와 and death 사망을 이긴 through this 이분 one man 한 사람, Jesus Christ 예수 그리스도를 통하여.

18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings  [condemnation for everyone], 

but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings [a right relationship with God and new life for everyone].

 

18 Yes 맞다, Adam’s one sin 아담의 죄 하나가 brings 가져온다 condemnation 저주를 for everyone 모든 이들에게, 

but Christ’s one act 그리스도의 한 행동은 of righteousness 의로우신 brings 가져온다 a right relationship 올바른 관계와

with God 하나님과의 and new life 새 삶을 for everyone 모든 이를 위한.

19 Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. 

But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.

many 많은 이들이 became 되었다 sinners 죄인들이. 

But 그러나 because 때문에 one other person 다른 한 사람이 obeyed 순종했기에 God 하나님을,

many 많은 이가 will be made 만들어질 것이다 righteous 의로운 상태로.

예수님께서 순종하심으로 많은 신자들이 은혜를 입으므로 내 한 몸 행동에 많은 이들이 살고 죽는 것도 알아야 한다 

 

20 God’s law was given /so that all people could see [how sinful they were]. 

But as people sinned /more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.

/so that 그래서 all people 모든 사람이 could see 볼 수 있도록 how sinful 얼마나 죄 가득한 they 그들이 were 상태인지. 

But 그러나 as 동시에 people 사람들이 sinned 죄 질 때 more and more 더 많이,

God’s wonderful grace 하나님의 경이로운 은혜는 became 되었다 more abundant 더 넉넉하게.

율법이 주어진 근본적인 이유는 법을 지켜야 삶이 가능한 것도 있지만 법은 또한 죄성을 들추어내므로
우리가 얼마나 큰 죄인인걸 깨달아야 예수님을 믿어 은혜를 입고 죄인이 의인될 수 있기에 구원받지만
믿음과 은혜의 구원을 무시하고 율법을 완벽하게 행함으로 영혼구원을 얻으려 노력하면 구원은 날샌다
  
21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them /to death, 

now God’s wonderful grace rules /instead,
