New Living Translation
But don’t just listen /to God’s word.
You must do [what it says].
Otherwise, you are only fooling [yourselves].

* listen ; To make an effort to hear something, To pay attention; 주목/경청하여 잘 듣다
* 비교 hear ; To perceive (sound) by the ear: 귀로 들리는 소리를 인식하다, 들리다
* do의 목적인 의문사절 what it says [목]. 의문사=접속사=목적
* 대명사 it = God’s word
* OTHERWISE (adverb): in different or opposite way; except for one fact. 그렇지 않으면
* 목적으로 쓰인 재귀대명사 yourselves
* 쓰인 위치에 따라 문장 의미가 달라지는 only
you are only fooling [yourselves]. 단지 속인다 ; 속이는 동작만
you only are fooling [yourselves]. 너만 속인다 ; 속이는 주체만
you are fooling only [yourselves]. 너 자신만 속인다 ; 속이는 대상만

Do not merely listen /to the word, and so deceive yourselves.
Do [what it says].

Put the word /into action.
If you think () hearing is [what matters most],
you are going to find () you have been deceived.
