If you don’t forgive, you will not be forgiven 용서해야 용서받는다

 

 

 

We say a great many things in church (and out of church too) without thinking of what we are saying. 

For instance, we say in the Creed “I believe in [the forgiveness of sins].” 

 

* 전목인 동명사구 thinking of what we are saying. 

* 전목인 의문사절 what we are saying. 

* BELIEVE IN ; to have faith or confidence in 신뢰하다

 

I had been saying it /for several years /before I asked [myself] [why it was in the Creed]. 

 

* 4 형식 asked [myself] [why it was in the Creed]. 

 

At first sight it seems /hardly /worth putting in. 

 

* 전치사로 쓰인 worth : deserving of

 

“If one is a Christian,” I thought, “of course one believes in [the forgiveness of sins]. 

 

It goes without saying.” 

 

*  IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING : 1. used to mean that something is obvious: 두 말할 필요도 없다

 

But [the people //who compiled the Creed] apparently thought that this was a part of our belief

//which we needed to be reminded of /every time () we went to church. 

 

* 주어인 명사구, [the people //who compiled the Creed]

* 형절 //which we needed to be reminded of = // of which we needed to be reminded

* 부사 역할인 명사구, /every time (that) we went to church. 

 

And I have begun to see that, as far as I am concerned, they were right. 

[To believe in the forgiveness of sins] is not nearly so easy /as I thought. 

[Real belief in it] is [the sort of thing //that very easily slips away /if we don’t keep on [polishing it up].

 

* 주어인 부정사구, To believe in the forgiveness of sins

* as far /as ~ ; 부사+부사+접속사, so easy /as ; 부사+형용사+접속사

* 타동사구  keeps on. 1. informal : to continue happening, doing something, working, etc.

* 목적인 동명사구 [polishing it up].

We believe that God forgives [us] [our sins]; 

but also that He will not do so /unless we forgive [other people] [their sins against us]. 

 

* 4 형식 forgives [us] [our sins]; 

* 인칭 대명사로 쓰인 He는 '그분'임을 구별하고자 대문자로 쓰이므로

개역개정에서 하나님을 '그'로 번역한 건 오류고 '그분'으로 고쳐야 함

 

There is no doubt about the second part of this statement. 

It is in the Lord’s Prayer; it was emphatically stated /by our Lord.

 

* 대명사 it =  the second part of this statement.

* Matthew 6:15, New International Version
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

 

If you don’t forgive, you will not be forgiven.

No part of His teaching is clearer, and there are no exceptions to it.

 

He doesn’t say that we are to forgive other people’s sins /provided () they are not too frightful,

or provided () there are extenuating circumstances, or anything of that sort.

 

* provided (that)~ : only if, on the condition that, as long as conjunction. ~한다는 조건하에

* 대명사 they = other people’s sins

* 형역 현분사 extenuating ; 현분사의 능동 주체인 circumstances 수식, 

 

We are to forgive [them all], however spiteful, however mean, however often they are repeated.

If we don’t, [we] shall be forgiven [none of our own].

* 4 형식 수동태 [we=직목] shall be forgiven [none of our own=간목].

 

직독해석

 

We 우리는 say 말한다 a great many things 엄청 많은 일들을 in church 교회 안에서

(and 그리고 out of church 교회 밖에서도 too 역시)

without thinking 생각하기 없이 of what 그것에 대한 we 우리가 are saying 말하는. 

 

* 목사님이나 신학자님들이 얼마나 많은 말씀들을 하는지 인터넷 검색을 해 보면 아는데

자기들의 견해/상상을 추가한 말은 쓸만한 말이 아니기에 많이 들어도 헛 지식만 넘친다

 

For instance 예를 들면, we 우리는 say 말한다 in the Creed 사도신경에서

“I 나는 believe in 믿습니다 the forgiveness 용서를 of sins 죄들에 관한.” 

 

I 나는 had been saying 말해왔다 it 그것을 for several years 여러 해 동안

before 전까지 I 내가 asked 물었던 때 myself 내 자신에게 why 이유를 it  그것이 was 있었던 in the Creed 사도신경에. 

 

* 루이스가 여러 해 동안 생각 없이 사도신경을 말해온 것처럼 본인도 그래왔는데

오늘사 루이스의 글을 읽고 생각 없이 사도신경을 중얼거린 것을 부끄러워한다

 

At first sight 우선 보기에 it 그건 seems 보인다 hardly 거의 없이 worth putting in 넣어야 할 만한 가치가. 

“If 만약 one 한 사람이 is a Christian 기독인이면,” I thought 내 생각에,

“of course 물론 one 그 사람은 believes in 믿는다 the forgiveness 용서를 of sins 죄들에 관한.

It goes without saying.” 그건 두말할 필요도 없다

 

But 그러나 [the people 사람들이 who compiled 짜 맞춘 the Creed 사도신경을]

apparently 뚜렷하게 thought 생각했다 that절 내용을 즉 this 이것이 was a part 한 부분이라고 of our belief 우리의 신념의

which 그건 we 우리가 needed 필요했던 것 to be reminded of 상기시키기를 every time 매 번 (that) we 우리가 went 갈 때

to church 교회로. 

 

And 그리고 I 나는 have begun 시작했다 to see 이해하기를 that절 내용을,

as far as I am concerned 내가 교려 하는 한, they 그들은 were right 옳았었다고.

 

To believe in the forgiveness of sins 죄의 용서를 믿는 것은 is not nearly so easy 그렇게 거의 쉬운 것이 아니다

as I thought 내가 생각했었던 것처럼. 

 

Real belief in it 그것에 관한 진정한 믿음은 is the sort of thing 그런 종류의 일이다 that 그건 very easily 매우 쉽게

slips away 슬며시 사라지는 if 만약 we 우리가 don’t keep on 계속하지 않으면 polishing it up 갈고닦기를.

 

* 예수님께서 우리 죄를 사해주시는데 십자가의 고통이 따랐던 것처럼 각자가 당한 일을 용서하기란 결코 쉽지 않지만

용서를 해야 용서를 받는다는 일은 매우 중요한 일이라 자주 상기하지 않으면 사라질 것이기에 사도신경에 쓰여있다

 

We 우리는 believe 믿는다 that절 내용을 즉 God 하나님께서 forgives 용서하신다고 [us 우리에게] [our sins 우리 죄를]; 

but 그러나 also 또한 (믿는다) that절 내용을 즉 He 그분께서 will not do 하시지 않으실 것 so 그렇게

/unless 만약 we 우리가 forgive 용서하지 않는다면 [other people 다른 이들에게] [their sins 그들의 죄를

against us 우리를 거슬러 한]. 


There is 존재하지 않는다 no doubt 아무런 의심이 about the second part 둘째 부분에 대하여

of this statement 이 진술/선언문의. 

It 그건 is in the Lord’s Prayer 주기도문에 있다;

it 그건 was emphatically 강조적으로 stated 진술/선포되었다 /by our Lord 주님에 의해서.

 

* 주님께서 2천여 년 전에 직접 말씀하신 주기도문에 있는 말씀이기에 누가 의문시할 아무런 여지도 없다

If 만약 you 당신이 don’t forgive 용서하지 않는다면, you 당신은 will not be forgiven 용서되지 않을 것이다.

No part 아무런 부분도 of His teaching 그분의 가르침의 is clearer 더 이상 명료할 수 없고,

and there are 존재하지 않는다 no 아무런 exceptions 예외도 to it 그것에 관하여.


He 그분께서는 doesn’t say 말씀하시지 않는다 that절 내용을 즉 we 우리가 are to forgive 용서하기로 되어 있다고

other people’s sins 다른 사람의 죄를

/provided 조건하에 (that절 내용의) they 그것들이 are not too 너무 frightful 흉측하지 않다는,

or 또는 provided 조건하에 (that절 내용의) there are 존재한다는 extenuating 정상참작할 circumstances 상황들이,

or 또는 anything 어떤 것이라도 of that sort 그런 종류의.

We 우리는 are to forgive 용서하기로 되어 있다 [them all 그것들 모두를],

however 얼마나 spiteful 앙칼지든지, however 얼마나 mean 못됐든지,

however 얼마나 often 자주 they 그것들이 are repeated 반복되든지.

If 만약 we 우리가 don’t (용서를) 안 한다면,

we 우리는 shall be forgiven 용서받지 못할 것이다 [none 아무것/죄도 of our own 우리 자신의].

 

* 사실 주님께서 율법형법상 우리의 용서받지 못할 죄를 십자가 형벌로 대신 갚고 용서하신 것이기에

우리 또한 다른 이를 용서해야 용서받은 자의 도리인 것이 너무나도 자명하나 그게 그리 쉽지도 않고

한두 번 용서한다 해도 반복되는 죄를 6번 이상도 아닌 7+70 회 거의 무한대로 용서하는 건 불가하나

우리의 불가한 처지를 아시는 성자 하나님께서 하라고 명령하신 이면에는 주님의 작정된 도움이 있다
