“Is it legal to convict a man /before he is given a hearing?” he asked.

They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too?

Search the Scriptures and see for yourself—no prophet ever comes from Galilee!”

 

* 가주어 it = to convict a man /before he is given a hearing

But they cut him off. “Are you also campaigning for the Galilean?

Examine the evidence. See if any prophet ever comes from Galilee.”

공회원인 니고데모는 피고의 증언청취도 없이 약식재판하는 건 불법이다 지적하는데

이천 년 전이나 후나 일반적으로 누구나 다 하는 즉결재판에 능통한 바리새인들은

이미 약식으로 간단히 판단/결정된 사안에 토를 다는걸 트집 잡으며

너도 한 패거리라 우리의 정의로운 판단에 항소를 제기한다고 속단/처단하는데

 

누구나 부재중인 사람에 대해 일방적으로 온갖 판단/비판/비난/험담/정죄 등을 자행하니

형편상 부재중인 피고를 약식재판에 처하는 건 유전/유행성 관행이라 그렇다 쳐도

현장에 있는 피고인에게 조차 변호할 기회도 주지 않고 비동조자로 낙인찍어

너도 한 패거리냐 하고 한마디로 잘라서 재판/판단을 마무리 짓는 건 좀 심하다 싶지만

 

사실이지 속단판단 즉결재판은 고대나 현대를 무론하고

복잡한 민주적/인간적인 절차를 생략하고 일방독제적으로

재판자/판단자 혼자서 북 치고 장고치고 다 해 먹으면서

자기의 유일한 선언/견해에 동조하면 의인, 반대하면 죄인으로 규정하는 행태에

내가 당하면 불법이지만 내가 하면 정의구현이라 믿는 게 일반적 관행이니

이런 저주성 약식재판의 칼자루를 쥔 재판/판단자의 고양이 목에

누가 감히 방울을 달아 부당함의 경고음을 온천하에 들리게 하랴만

 

역사의 진실이나 현실적인 사실조차 왜곡될 수는 없기에

진실이 드러나는 날 즉결심판의 부당성은 만천하에 드러나고

혹시 시간의 역사에 묻혀 잊히더라도

마지막 날 심판대에서는

온갖 진실이 증인/증거로 드러날 것이고

공명정대 완벽하신 하나님께서는 졸속재판을 하시지 않고

진정한 정의구현을 정의롭게 하실 것이므로

그때 가서 후회하지 말고

today 오늘 정직한 판단/재판을 수행해야

편히 잠잘 수 있다고 깨닫는다

 

Lord, help us not to make a quick, erroneous judgment but to judge for us what is right. Amen.

Did Any Prophets Come Out of Galilee?
Question:
In John 7:52, the Pharisees told Nicodemus, “Search and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee. ” Were they correct that no prophet ever came out of Galilee?
Answer:
 It’s incredible that these supposed experts did not know that five prophets came out of Galilee—Jonah, Nahum, Hosea, Elijah, and Elisha. Jesus was born in Bethlehem and raised in Nazareth, which is in Galilee. He was called Jesus of Nazareth, so the Pharisees assumed that He was born in Galilee.

The Pharisees were adamant that no prophet ever came out of Galilee because they thought it was proof that Jesus was not a prophet and could not be the Messiah. They knew the Scriptures prophesied the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem(John 7:42, Micah 5:2). So the Pharisees were wrong on two points—that no prophet had come from Galilee and that Jesus could not be the Messiah. For whatever reason, Jesus never stated during His public ministry that He was born in Bethlehem.
