1 In my first book I told you, Theophilus, about everything () Jesus began [to do and teach]

 

1 In my first book 나의 처음 책에서 I 나는 told 말했습니다 you 당신에게,

Theophilus 데오빌로여, about everything 모든 것에 대하여 (that) 그건 Jesus 예수님께서 began 시작하신 to do 하시고

and teach 가르치신

 

* Theophilus /thee-AH-fih-luhs 디아필러스/ 높은 사람이긴 하나 누군지 확실히 알려진 바 없음

both a common name and an honorary title among the learned (academic) Romans and Jews of the era.

* 전목인 명사구 everything (that) Jesus began to do and teach [], 명+형절

* 형절 (that) Jesus began to do and teach [목=everything], 선행사는 부정사의 목적 역할

1 To a lover of God 하나님을 사랑하는 분, Theophilus 데오빌로여: In my first book 나의 처음 책에서,

I recounted 자세히 말했습니다 [the events 사건을 of Jesus’ life 예수님의 삶의]

—His actions 그분의 행동과, His teachings 그분의 가르침을— 

 

* 앰 댓쉬로 추가된 동격 명사구  His actions, His teachings = the events

* 1절 이후로는 편의상 데오빌로에 대한 존대어는 생략하고 예수님께만 존칭어를 사용하는데

  비록 영어권에서는 honorific 존대어 표시가 없지만 한국 정서/문화에서 존대어는 철칙이고

  아버지 성함조차 함부로 입에 담지 못하고 다른 이들에게도 '님'자 없이 말했다간 난리 나는 실정이기에

  영어에는 없더라도 한글 의역에는 예수님 이름을 존칭어 없이 쓰면 한국 정서에는 무뢰한 무례자라 하겠는데

  음악 좀 안다고 하시는 분들이 음표에 찬송가사 짝 맞춘다고 예수님 존함에서 남자 뺀 건 기상천외한 발상이고

  자칭 부족한 종이라고 겸손 떨면서 예수님 이름을 님자 없이 함부로 부르시는 종들은 지구 살 떨리는 종왕? (잠 30:22)

2 until the day he was taken up /to heaven 

/after giving his chosen apostles further instructions /through the Holy Spirit.

 

2 until the day 그날까지 he 그분께서 was taken up 올리워지실 때까지 to heaven 하늘로

/after giving 주신 후에 his chosen apostles 그분의 선택된 사도들에게 further 추가적인 instructions 지시를

through the Holy Spirit 성령 하나님을 통하여.

 

* 부사절 접속사로 쓰인 until 1. up to (the time that) 지금부터 시작해서 그때까지

* 비교  before ; earlier than the time or event mentioned  단지 정한 그 시간 전에

* 접속사로 쓰인 after ; during the period of time following an event. 어떤 기간 후에

* 비교 ; 전치사 after ; in the time following 그 시간 후에

* 부사절 축약형 /after giving his chosen apostles further instructions /through the Holy Spirit.

종절과 주절의 주어가 같은 경우 종절의 주어 빼고 동사는 v-ing 분사형으로 고쳐 접속사와 함께 씀

(일반적으로 분사구문으로 설명하나 접속사가 있는 관계로 부사절 축약형이 더 설득력이 있다 봄)

 

3 During the forty days /after he suffered and died, he appeared /to the apostles /from time to time, 

and he proved /to them /in many ways [that he was actually alive].

And he talked /to them /about the Kingdom of God.

 

3 During the forty days 40일 동안 /after 후에 he 그분께서 suffered 고통당하시고 and died 돌아가신 후,

he 그분께서 appeared 나타나셨다 /to the apostles 사도들에게 /from time to time 때때로, 

and he 그분께서는 proved 증명하셨다 /to them 그들에게 /in many ways 여러 방식으로

[that절 내용을 즉 he 그분께서 was actually 실제적으로 alive 살아계신다는 걸].

And he 그분께서는 talked 이야기하셨다 /to them 그들에게 /about the Kingdom of God 하나님의 왕국에 대하여.

 

* During ; throughout the entire time or at a certain point in time when something was happening.

            전체 기간이나 그 기간의 한 싯점을 의미하는 전치사이므로 명사나 상당어가 뒤따름

* 비교 while ; Actions are/were happening at the same time 동시적으로 일어나는 일에 쓰이는 부사 접속사

* from time to time : sometimes, but not regularly: 때때로

* proved의 목적인 명사절 ; [that he was actually alive]. 

* talk ; converse or communicate by spoken words. 서로 대화를 나누다. 대화 상대는 with/to+사람으로 씀

         talk to him. talk with me. (예외 talk the talk, walk the walk/walk the talk; practice what you preach. 말한 대로 하라)

* 비교

  speak ;  for more serious or formal situations. 격식적 대화/연설 또는 언어 구사에 쓰이나 언어만 speak+언어 구조로 씀

             speak to people, 사람들에게 말하다 speak English. 영어를 구사하다

  tell ; to give information to somebody by speaking or writing 정보를 상대에게 전달하다 (대상이 필요함)

         tell him about it, tell him the truth.

  say ; say something or say something to somebody. 화자가 청자에게 일방적으로 진술/말하다

        말하는 상대는 to+사람, 말하는 내용은 say that~ 구조로 씀

2-3 from the beginning 시작부터 of His life 그분의 삶의 /until 그때까지 He 그분께서 was taken up 올려가실

/into heaven 하늘로. 

After His 그분의 great 엄청난 suffering 고통과 and vindication 무죄 입증 후에, 

He 그분께서 showed 보이셨다 [His apostles 그분의 사도들에게] [that 절 내용을 즉 He 그분께서 was alive 살아 계신다는 걸]

—appearing 나타나시며 to them 그들에게 repeatedly 반복하여 over a period of 40 days 40일 기간 동안, 

   giving 주시면서 them 그들에게 many convincing proofs 많은 확증하는 증거들을 of His resurrection 그분의 부활에 대한. 

As before 그전에처럼, He 그분께서는 spoke 말씀하셨다 /constantly 끊임없이 /of the kingdom of God 하나님의 왕국에 대해.

During these appearances 이런 출현 기간에, 

He 그분께서 had instructed 지시하셨다 His 그분의 chosen messengers 선택된 사도들에게

/through the Holy Spirit 성령 하나님을 통해서, 

 

4 Once /when he was eating /with them, he commanded them, 

“Do not leave Jerusalem /until the Father sends [you] [the gift () he promised], as I told you before.

both can be used as conjunctions to mean “as soon as” or “after,” after which, and just then

though “once” seems a bit more emphatic than “when”

4 prohibiting 금하시면서 them 그들을 from leaving Jerusalem 예루살렘을 떠나는 걸로부터, 

but rather 오히려 requiring 요구하시면서 them 그들이 to wait 기다리기를 there 그곳에서

5 John baptized /with water,

but in just a few days you will be baptized /with the Holy Spirit.”

 

5 John 세례 요한은 baptized 세례 주었지만 with water 물로,

but 그러나 in just a few days 수일 내로 you 너희는 will be baptized 세례 받을 것이다 with the Holy Spirit 성령으로.”

 

* 예수님께서 40여 일을 제자들에게 나타나셨다가 승천하셨으므로 오순절까지는 10일쯤 남았는데

  3년 동안 같이 있었으면서도 예수님께서 성자 하나님이신 걸 모르고 십자가에서 참혹하게 죽으신 모습을 목격한 후

  충격과 공황에 빠졌을 제자들이 부활하신 예수님께서 나타나셨다가 승천하시니  꿈인지 생시인지 혼란스러웠을 거고

  예수님과 함께했던 3년여 동안도 마치 환상으로 생각되어질 만큼 현실로 인식되기가 어려운 성육신의 대사건이기에

  이천여 년 전의 누가의 증언을 글로 읽는 우리도 마찬가지라 보는데 만약 오순절의 성령 하나님의 강림이 없었더라면

  제자들 한 사람도 목숨 바친 헌신도 없었을 것이고 오늘날 우리들도 사실로 믿기가 불가능했을 것이다 봄

5 Jesus 예수님: This 이것이 is [what 그것이다 you 너희가 heard 들었던 Me 내가 teach 가르친 그것

— that 그것 just as 똑같이 John 요한이 ritually 예식적으로 cleansed 씻었던 것처럼 [people] 사람들을

/with water 물로 /through baptism 세례를 통하여, [a] 

so 그래서 you 너희가 will be washed 씻겨질 것이라는 것 /with the Holy Spirit 성령으로 /very soon 머지않아서.

 

* 보어인 의문사절  what you heard Me teach [목], 의문사는 접속사 겸 목보인 부정사 teach의 목적 역할도 함

* 감각동사 5 형식 you heard [Me] [(to) teach (what)]

* 앰댓쉬로 추가된 명사절 — [that just as John ritually cleansed... so~] = what에 대한 추가 설명

 

 

6 So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept [asking him], 

“Lord, has the time come /for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

 

6 So 그래서 when 그때 the apostles 사도들이 were with Jesus 예수님과 함께 있었을 때,

they 그들은 kept 계속했다 asking 요청하는 상태로 him 그분께,

“Lord 주님, has the time 때가 come 왔습니까  for you 주님께서 to free 자유롭게 하시고 Israel 이스라엘을

and restore 회복하실 our kingdom 우리의 왕국을?”

 

* keep은 타동사로는 계속하다는 의미가 없고 자동사로는 있기에 ; To continue to do: keep on talking; keep guessing.

  '상태를 계속 유지하다'로 되므로 asking 은 불자 보어인 형역분사가 됨

* /for you는 부정사 to free의 주체/동작자 표시로 쓰임

* 제자들의 심정은 일제 치하에서 핍박당하던 기독인들의 심정과 유사했기에 언제 나라가 회복될지 물었는데

  예언된 (사 27:12, 겔 36 등) 일이기에 유대인이면 누구나 로마의 압제에서 독립하길 원했을 것이다 봄

6 When 그때 they 그들이 had gathered 모였을 때 /just outside Jerusalem 예루살렘 바로 외곽에

/at the Mount of Olives 감람산에,

they 그들은 asked 물었다 Jesus 예수님께,
Disciples 제자들: Is now 이제 the time 그 시기입니까 , Lord 주님

—the time 그 시기 //when 그때인 You 주님께서 will reestablish 다시 세우실 Your kingdom 주님의 왕국을

7 He replied, “The Father alone has [the authority to set those dates and times],

and they are not for you to know.

and times 시기를, and they 그것들은 are not 아니다 for you 너희가 to know 알 것이.

but 그러나 you 너희에게는 have not been given 주어지지 않았다 [this knowledge 이런 지식/정보가].

8 But you will receive power /when the Holy Spirit comes /upon you. 

And you will be my witnesses, telling people /about me /everywhere

—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

upon you 너희에게.

And you 너희는 will be 될 것이다 my witnesses 나의 증인들이, telling 말하면서 people 사람들에게

And you 너희는 will be 될 것이다 My witnesses 나의 증인들이, first 먼저 here 여기 in Jerusalem 예루살렘에서,

then 그러고 나서 beyond to Judea 유대를 너머 and Samaria 사마리아와, and finally 마침내

to the farthest places 가장 먼 곳까지 on earth 세상의.

 

9 After saying this, he was taken up /into a cloud

/while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.

9 After saying this 이것을 말씀하신 후에, he 그분께서는 was taken up 올리워 가셨다 into a cloud 구름 위로

/while they 그들이 were watching 지켜보는 동안,

and they 그들은 could no longer 더 이상 see 볼 수 없었다 him 그분을.

9 As He 그분께서 finished 마치셨을 때 this commission 이 임명을, 

He 그분께서는 began 시작하셨다 [to rise 오르시기를 from the ground 땅으로부터 before their eyes 그들의 눈앞에서

/until 그때까지 the clouds 구름이 obscured 가릴 때까지 Him /from their vision 그들의 시야로부터].

10 As they strained /to see him rising into heaven,

[two white-robed men] /suddenly stood /among them.

11 “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing /here /staring into heaven? 

Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, 

but someday he will return from heaven in the same way () you saw him go!”

11 “Men of Galilee 갈릴리 사람들이여,” they 그들은 said 말했다,

 “why 왜 are you 당신들은 standing 서 있느냐 /here 여기에 /staring 응시하며 into heaven 하늘로?

Jesus 예수님께서 has been taken 데려가지셨다 from you 너희로부터 into heaven 하늘로, 

but 그러나 someday 어느 날 he 그분께서 will return 돌아오실 것이다 /from heaven 하늘로부터

12 Then the apostles returned /to Jerusalem /from the Mount of Olives, a distance of half a mile.

13 When they arrived, they went /to the upstairs room of the house //where they were staying. 

Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, 

Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), and Judas (son of James).

13 When 그때 they 그들이 arrived 도착했을 때, they 그들은 went 갔다 to the upstairs room 위층 방으로

of the house 그 집의 //where 거긴 they 그들이 were staying 머물렀었든 곳.

James 제임스/야고보 (son of Alphaeus 알피어스/알패오), Simon 싸이몬/시몬/도마 (the Zealot 열심당), 
Judas 쥬다스/유다 (son of James 제임스의 아들).

 

* the Zealot 단어 의미상 열심당이라 하나 로마에 대항하여 싸우는 독립군이었고 로마는 물론 로마에 충성하는

  유대인들도 (일제에 충성하는 조선인처럼) 적대시하였고 그중에는 로마를 위해 세금을 걷는 마태도 있었는데

  두 사람은 정치적으로는 견원지간/원수였었지만 복음 안에서 형제가 되었다 함 (참조 Got Questions)

* 영어 발음은 미/영 간에 차이도 있지만 한글식 표기와는 너무 다르기에 단지 영어 듣기를 위해 적었는데

  한글 성경 읽으면서 원음 흉내 낸다고 영어식으로 발음하면 한글식 이름에 익숙한 신자들 귀에 무척 거슬려서

  영어 잘한다고 잘난척한다는 비판도 받겠지만 소통을 위해 쓰는 언어 목적에도 거슬리고

  원음 발음한다고 믿음이 자라기는커녕 지식 자랑으로 하늘 높이 자랄 교만도 거슬릴거라 간곡히 만류함

 

14 They all met together and were constantly united /in prayer, 

along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

14 They all 그들 모두가 met 만났고 together 함께 and were constantly 계속하여 united 연합되었다 in prayer 기도에서,

along with Mary the mother of Jesus 예수님의 모친 마리아와, several other women 대여섯의 다른 여성들과,

This whole group 이 단체 전체는 devoted 헌신했다 [themselves 그들 자신들을] /to constant prayer 끊임없는 기도에

 Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), 

Simon (the Zealot), Judas (son of James),

15 During this time, when about 120 believers were together /in one place,

Peter stood up and addressed them.

and made 만들었다/했다 this proposal 이 제안을:

 

16 “Brothers,” he said, “the Scriptures had to be fulfilled /concerning Judas,

who guided [those //who arrested Jesus]. 

This was predicted /long ago /by the Holy Spirit, speaking through King David.

16 “Brothers 형제들이여,” he said 그는 말했다, “the Scriptures 성경은 had to be fulfilled 이루어졌어야 했다

concerning Judas 유다에 관하여, who guided 인도한 those 그들을 who arrested 체포한 Jesus 예수님을.

  지구의 허술하게 보이도록 얇은 공기층인 대기권을 잡고 계시는 분이시라는 것은

지구가 마하 1.4 정도의 속도로 자전하며 (지구 둘레 4만 km / 지구의 하루 24시간 = 자전 속도 1667 km/h)

이는 초강력 태풍의 열 배 이상의 바람 속도라 대기권 없으면 지상의 모든 물체가 다 날아갈 힘이고

공전속도 시속 10만 7천 km, 마하 87이라는 상상초월의 속도에서 대기가 휩쓸려 나가지 않는 걸 아는데

 물론 지구의 인력이나 자장의 힘이라곤 하지만 그게 우연 진화의 결과일 수 없기에 창조주 하나님의 능력이 정답임

 

17 Judas was one of us and shared in [the ministry] /with us.”

17 Judas 유다는 was one of us 우리 중 하나였고 and shared in 나누었었다 the ministry 사역을 with us 우리와 함께.”

18 (Judas had bought a field /with the money () he received /for his treachery. 

Falling headfirst there, his body split open, spilling out [all his intestines].

18 (Judas 유다는 had bought 구매했다 a field 농지를 with the money 그 돈으로 (that) 그건 he 그가 received 받은

for his treachery 그의 배신으로.

Falling 떨어지면서 headfirst 머리가 먼저 there 거기서, his body 그의 몸은 split open 쪼깨져 열려졌다/터졌다,

spilling out 쏟으면서 all his intestines 그의 모든 내장을

* 한 치 앞도 모르는 부자 농부가 창고를 크게 확대하자는 거나 사업가가 어떤 도시 가서 사업하여 이익을 내자 하나

  그들의 생명이 언제 취하여 갈지 모르듯 유다도 배신금으로 땅 사서 농사하여 잘 먹고 잘 살려했지만

  그 밭에 자신이 묻힐 피밭이 될 줄은 꿈에도 몰랐겠으니 10억으로 떨어질 줄 모르고 15억 주고 아파트도 '피파트'라

  결국 유다와 같이 오장육부가 터질 비참한 처지인데 많은 사람들이 비슷한 경우를  다들 체험하나

  오직 깨닫는 사람들만이 돌이켜 피밭에 묻히지 않을 현자가 될 수 있다 봄

18 (He 그는 was paid 품삯 받았다 /handsomely 근사하게 /for his betrayal 그의 배신으로,

and he 그는 bought 구매했다 [a field 농지를] /with the blood money 핏값으로.

But 그러나 he 그는 died 죽었다 /on that land 그 땅에서

—falling 떨어지면서 /so that 그래서 his abdomen 그의 복부가 burst 터지고 and his internal organs 그의 내장이

gushed out 쏟아져 나왔다.

 

19 The news of his death spread /to all the people of Jerusalem, 

and they gave [the place] [the Aramaic name //which means “Field of Blood].”)

20 Peter continued, “This was written in the book of Psalms, 

where it says, ‘Let [his home] [become desolate], with no one /living in it.’ 

It also says, ‘Let [someone else] [take his position].’

But 그러나 the psalms 그 시편은 also 또한 include 포함한다 these words 이런 말들을:

“Let  하게 하라 [his position 그의 위치가 of oversight 감독에 관한] [be given 주어지게 to another 다른 이에게].” [d]

who were /with us /the entire time () we were traveling /with the Lord Jesus—

from among the men 사람들로부터

who 그 사람 were with us 우리와 함께 있었던 the entire time 전체 시간을 (that) 그건 we 우리가 were traveling 이동할 때

with the Lord Jesus 주 예수님과 함께—

22 from the time he was baptized /by John /until the day he was taken from us. 

[Whoever is chosen] will join us /as a witness of Jesus’ resurrection.”

Whoever 누구이든지 is chosen 선택된 will join 참여할 것이다 us 우리에게 as a witness 증인으로서

of Jesus’ resurrection 예수님의 부활의.”

22 from His baptism [e]  예수님의 세례로부터 by John 요한에 의한 until His ascension 그분의 승천까지.

We 우린 need 필요로 한다 [someone 어떤 이가] [to join 참여하기를 us 우리에게

as a witness 증인으로서 of Jesus’ resurrection 부활의].

 

 

23 So they nominated [two men]:

Joseph called Barsabbas (also known as Justus) and Matthias.

23 So 그래서 they 그들은 nominated 추천했다 two men 두 사람을: 

Joseph 요셉하고 called 불리는 Barsabbas 바사바라고 (also 역시 known 알려진 as Justus 유스도라고) and Matthias 맛디아를.

24 Then they all prayed, “O Lord, you know every heart. 

Show [us] [which of these men you have chosen]

24 Then 그러고 나사 they all 그들 모두는 prayed 기도했다, “O Lord 주님이시여, you 당신께서는 know  아십니다

every heart 모든  심정을. 

Show 보여 주십시요 us 우리에게 which 그 사람을 of these men 이 사람들 중에 you 주님께서 have chosen 선택하신

25 as an apostle to replace Judas in this ministry, for he has deserted us and gone /where he belongs.”

for 왜냐면 he 그는 has deserted 유기했고 us 우리를 and gone 갔기에 where 그곳에 he 가가 belongs 속한.”

25 to take on 수행할 this ministry 이 사역을 as Your apostle 주님의 사도로서,

replacing 교체하면서 Judas 유다를 who went 갔었던 his own way 그 자신의 길을 to his own destination 그 자신의 파멸로.
